The Company
Sandbar Pictures is an independent production and finance company formed by Producers Greg Little (MAYOR OF THE SUNSET STRIP) and Lizzie Friedman (A VIEW FROM THE TOP) in 2005. Their goal is to empower filmmakers to produce high quality commercial films with budgets between $2 and $50 million dollars and bring them to audiences via major, mini-major, and independent studio distribution companies.
The company launched with Daniel Waters’ dark comedy SEX AND DEATH 101 starring Simon Baker and Winona Ryder. Since then they have made AND SOON THE DARKNESS for Studio Canal and two award winning documentaries: ONE LUCKY ELEPHANT for OWN and WHIZ KIDS, which is being released by Shadow Distribution. On television, Sandbar Pictures has produced the movie SILENT WITNESS for TNT starring Dermot Mulroney, Anne Heche, and Judd Hirsch as well as LEFT TO DIE for Lifetime. The company is currently in pre-production on Academy Award winning actress Helen Hunt’s feature film RIDE, which she will both star in and direct.
Among a diverse slate of projects in development are a remake of the Korean hit, THE TRUCK, written by Mark Rosenthal and to be directed by Julian Jarrold for Trudie Styler’s Maven Pictures, Superhero story ZASTROZZI with Amber Heard attached to star as well as projects with Simon Baker and Anne Heche. On the TV side, Sandbar’s slate includes the series TART NOIR with Mike Tollin/Fremantle Media, an original reality series INTERNATIONAL BARGAIN HUNTERS with Pilgrim Studios, two series with EOne, ASHFALL created by Colette Burson and Dmitry Lipkin, and ON THE EDGE based on the bestselling book series as well as the original mini-series CITIES for Martin Scorsese.
